Here are some things you need to know:
Attire
- Dress in comfortable clothing that you can move in (t-shirts, tights or shorts).
- Avoid wearing loose-fitting, baggy clothes — they obscure the teacher's view of your body alignment.
- Bare feet are essential for yoga practice. Be prepared to remove your socks when class begins.
- Avoid wearing perfume and other strong scents. They are distracting, and may aggravate the health of other students in class.
- Come to class on an empty stomach.
- Let Robert know at the start of class about any injuries or physical conditions that could affect your ability to practice yoga.
- Class begins with a preparatory practice for what will follow. This allows students to warm up and concentrate for a deeper practice. It's disruptive to come to class late. And, it could be unsafe, depending on what we're practicing, if you're not thoroughly warmed up.
- Yoga involves paying attention, internally and externally. Your skills will grow by listening to the teacher, observing demonstrated poses, and noticing what you experience when you practice.
