Gadon
Robert
began his practice of Iyengar yoga in 1997 at the
Unity Woods Yoga Center
in
Washington, D.C. He has studied with experienced and
talented yoga teachers from the United States and
abroad, primarily in the Iyengar tradition. His
principal teachers include
Carolyn Bluemle of
Takoma Park, MD,
Lois
Steinberg, Ph.D. of
Urbana, Illinois, and
Theresa Rowland of
Madison, NJ. He maintains a mentoring relationship with
Ms. Rowland and Ms. Steinberg.
In April 2010, Robert graduated from a 4-year, 500-hour
Iyengar yoga teacher training program at Studio Yoga in
Madison, NJ under the direction of Ms. Rowland. He
currently attends the Advanced Studies Program at Studio
Yoga. In 2009, he completed his first level national
Iyengar yoga teacher certifications exam ('Teacher in
Training' level). Robert began teaching yoga classes in
Wilmington, DE in 2004, and has taught students of all
ages.
Yoga teaching represents a life change for Robert. For 17
years, he was employed as an occupational and environmental
health professional with consulting firms, and
manufacturing companies. In 2006, Robert retired from 9
years of practice as a board certified industrial hygienist
(CIH). He holds a B.S. in Natural Resources from The
University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and a M.S. in
Occupational and Environmental Health from Wayne State
University in Detroit, MI.
He is married to the Reverend
Barbara Hoag Gadon, a
Unitarian Universalist minister presently serving
the
First
Unitarian Church of Wilmington.
Barbara is an avid collage artist, preacher, and
writer.
She
blogs about Unitarian Universalism and liberal
Christianity at 'Leap of Faith'. Robert
and Barbara live in Wilmington in a 1923 house with high
ceilings, wooden floors, and plaster walls that they are
gradually restoring. They share a passion for good food,
good books, dumb jokes, and Scrabble.
